Green Lake is named after one of the remnants of the last glacial period although it is dredged to keep its depth since there is no water inflow or outflow. Green Lake is a very popular community with a 2.8 mile trail around the lake frequented by walkers, runner, bicyclists, and roller skaters. The park also once contained the Aqua Theater, built in 1950, which housed the Aqua Follies, plays, musicals, and even was played by Bob Hope and the Grateful Dead. The popular Woodland Park Zoo is across the street. Restaurants and shops are near the lake. Green Lake is a fun and busy community year around.
